Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Before you begin, you’ll need your worn beeswax wraps, a beeswax bar (like the ones we sell in our online shop), parchment paper, and an oven or iron. You may also use a small grater to distribute the wax evenly. Make sure your workspace is clean and protected with an old towel or baking sheet.
Step 2: Grate or Slice the Beeswax Bar
Using a grater or knife, shave or slice small pieces of beeswax from the bar. Distribute the wax evenly over your wrap—don’t overdo it; a little goes a long way. If your wrap is particularly old, you might need a touch more wax to bring back that signature cling and seal.
Step 3: Melt and Spread the Wax
Place the wrap between two pieces of parchment paper and either press with a warm iron or bake on a parchment-lined tray in a low-temperature oven (around 200°F) for a few minutes. Watch closely—once the wax is melted, gently spread it using a brush or the heat of the iron to cover the full surface of the wrap.
Step 4: Cool and Reuse
Once the wax is evenly melted and absorbed, remove your wrap and let it air-dry for a few minutes. It will be good as new—tacky, flexible, and ready to wrap your favorite foods again.
